K-1889 - Steampunk Dr. Who K-9 by Sydeian K-1889 - Steampunk Dr. Who K-9 by Sydeian
One of Dr. Who's most loveable (or hateable, depending on your viewpoint) characters, rendered in a more steampunk style.

K-1889 is featured in the short story fan fiction "time and tide" which I completed during a summers day musing in a park.

K-1889 has been featured on the BBC.

I'm a big fan of Doctor Who & Steampunk. There are elements of DW that gell perfectly with Steampunk. Loving this K-1889!!

Considering that the new rendition of the TARDIS has an almost entirely steampunk console (up to and including the typewriter) and the newest Doctor is a well-spoken young genius with a red bow-tie? Yah, it's a good blend.

That is so cool! How big is it? I mean, is it 'life-sized' or is it more like an action figure?

Doctor Who actually would lend itself well towards steampunk. There are sometimes the interior of the TARDIS was bordering on it.

I don't suppose you'd be willing to divulge your source for the gears on the doggie?

Are they vintage? I've been pulling out my hair trying to find a supplier for umpteen gears that are around 1-3 inches in size and *flat* ... as opposed to itty bitty watch gears which I can find anywhere, or plastic gears which again...anywhere.

They are indeed vintage. I was lucky enough to find them at a flea market. Taken from a half destroyed clock movement. I'm afraid finding good parts is always a constant battle.

I'm a close relative of Dave Martin and good friends with Bob Baker, the creators of K9, and I've got to say my whole family absolutely love your magnificent steampunking of our favourite tin mutt. I doff my metaphorical cap to your artist genius Sir!

Its beena real honour to receive such a positive response from Dave's family. I've sent Chris some photos of K-1889 from other perspectives. Including one that shows the Victorian makers badge on his back that reads "Martin & Baker"

I would love to know what Bob Baker thinks of him too!

Thank you so much for your kind words.
